A Scene of Domesticity

Today was a laundry sort of day. Mostly ironing. (Groan.) And what goes better with monotonous domestic tasks than a good Jane Austen tale? So I ironed all the live long day to Pride & Prejudice (pausing to feed, love, and tend to Finn and Maya). Finn watched the end of the movie with me after his nap this afternoon. At the very end of the movie, when Mr. Darcy is walking through the field and sees Lizzy (aka the best part of the movie), Finn suddenly pointed to the screen and exclaimed, "Dadda Momma!" I said, "Yes, Finn, that IS Dadda and Momma." He grinned at me. :)

I love, I love, I love that movie! (I admit I am always a little vexed that they might not actually get together by the end of the movie. I tend to bite my nails. Wes says as a movie watcher I am good at "suspending disbelief." So this must be me "suspending obvious reality," since I know they get together. Every time. In all of the Pride and Prejudice movies...and the book.)

What's your favorite for a good romantic thrill, or loyal laundry companion?

P.S. I Love You... gets me every time!

On a totally unrelated note, how do you get your pictures so large without cutting into the actual picture? I read your trick for how to enlarge pictures and have done so with great success- only sometimes they get chopped off by blogger! I am thinking it might be a formatting thing. Ugh.

Maya is adorable by the way, as is Finn. But what do you expect with such good looking parents ;-)

My husband and I love The Wedding Singer and Just Married--chessy, I know, but we laugh everytime!

When I fold my laundry I turn my cable to channel 834 and listen to soundscapes. It's relaxing.

Lizzy and Mr. Darcy and Emma and Mr. Knightley are my favorite romantic thrills!

P.S. Have you had the chance to watch Lost in Austen? It's pretty cute.

That is a good one- I love Penelope and the Count of Monte Cristo! I can watch them over and over... (um, and Twilight) And in December, It's a Wonderful Life. I also like Becoming Jane, until the very end, but I can watch that one a lot too.

Pride and Prejudice... Sigh. Love it. And of course the BBC one. Should I be ashamed to say Twilight. :) And The Devil Wears Prada - although that's not as much a romance.

Don't laugh but A Walk in the Clouds has been one of my fav romantic movies since at least Jr. High. I just love it. :)

How could I NOT say Twilight! I had Jane Austin on my mind. I do love me some Edward and Bella!

Oh and of course 'An Affair to Remember' with Cary Grant. I could watch that anytime!

I like to listen to Pride & Prejudice while I sew. I rotate between that, Penelope, Fiddler on the Roof, Fever Pitch, and Music & Lyrics. A weird assortment, I know. :)

The BBC version of Pride & Prejudice is amazing! Have you seen it?

To iron to I love Amelie (but there are subtitles which can mean my ironing is quite off!!) and Finding Neverland.

Wow this is a tough one -- but I'll have to say that The Notebook, Pride and Prejudice, and Eternal Sunshine are my favorite romantic "thrills" --

Mr, Darcy in the rain proclaiming his love for Lizzy is my favorite part as his passion is radiating from his entire body. The way he throws out "I love you" is almost unbearable. sigh.

I think I'll go fold some laundry now... :-)

Then tell me you have also seen the BBC miniseries Pride & Prejudice. It is nearly word for word the book and won't disappoint! Also, the next best is Wives and Daughters. Great for sick days because well, they are miniseries.
