2-ish years ago I went on a hike with gal pal Jenn Z. When I say "hike," I mean Jenn booking it up Squaw Peak at 80 miles an hour on a paved path that went straight up at a 90 degree angle. She went up and down twice in the time it took me to do it once. And I was wheezing and panting all over the place. I guess I should not have assumed "hike" means the same thing to everyone. And who the heck paves a road straight up the side of a mountain for people to run up and down like crazies and calls that a hiking trail?! Well, I was completely unprepared for that event, and have avoided any type of killer cardio like that since. It made me realize I am not in the kind of "training shape" that I was in my track days.
So, needless to say, I have not intended to take up running in the past, oh say, 10 years. But tonight my good friend Lybi (an actual runner) asked if I wanted to run with her. And even though I have a wimpy ankle and I complain about sports asthma (whine whine), I ran the whole 1-ish mile at what I thought was a good clip. And for me, that is saying something. Can I reiterate here that I am a former sprinter...not a cross country girl. So please don't laugh that it was only 1 mile. :) And even though I don't prefer to run, necessarily, I learned 2 things: 1. Running with a Buddy is WAY better than not, and 2.I think I could do this on occasion. So thanks, Lybi, for the motivation!

I remember you in your track days. :)
Great job on the mile run. That's quite good for a first run in such a long time. It's always more fun to exercise with a buddy. At least I think so. ;)
